In Soho, there’s an incredible restaurant called Barrafina. Barrafina serves Michelin starred tapas, as the only walk-in Michelin star restaurant in the world. I’m usually not a Michelin-star restaurant kind of person–in fact, I think the concept of Michelin stars is overrated, especially after visiting Tokyo and having some of the “best” food in the world turning out to be a massive disappointment. Barrafina, however, is one of a kind.
We went there once last time we were in London, too. We walked in and were seated outside, right before the kitchen was closing, and had the most incredible meal of our lives. Simple, affordable, delicious, and amazing staff. This time was no different. We ordered a bunch of small plates, and had the same amazing bottle of Rioja Reserva Valenciso. The prices being anywhere from 3 to 16 pounds per plate, its not very expensive either. This place is a must-try for anyone who appreciates good wine and snacks (who doesn’t?). I’m like the number one wine and snack person–give me a seat outside, under a cozy blanket & with good company, and I’ll be the happiest girl in the world. Expect to get seated anywhere between 20 and 60 minutes from the time you arrive, as its walk-in only, and they don’t take reservations in advance. Have a glass of wine at the bar and enjoy the vibe while you wait. You shall not be disappointed!
