Hi cuties!

I’m actually thrilled to be able to write a post about my favourite restaurant around Simrishamn located on beautiful Österlen–where I am from and where my mom and extended family live still. I used to hate Österlen growing up, always asking my mom why they had chosen to live in such a boring place. I’d take the train for 1.5 hours to get to Malmö to see my friends on weekends, and I’d commute every day to high school for almost two hours in each direction.

Now, whenever I get a chance to come and visit, I never want to leave. A dream is to have a holiday home at Österlen one day—who would have thought it would be a place I’d end up longing for, out of all the other beautiful yet more happening places in the world?

On one of our last days in Simrishamn, my mom and grandmom took me, Saif, my sister and her boyfriend, to a local restaurant called Fridens Gårdskrog. Fridens is an old apple-farm turned wood-fire pizza place, at the end of a long road and in the middle of nowhere. We first visited this place maybe 8-9 years ago. At the time Fridens was just a small kitchen with two tables, but always with a long line outside. Today, they’ve expanded the restaurant into several rooms and corners, with both in- and outdoor seating. It’s just lovely.

All ingredients are locally sourced or straight from their own farm, from seafood to meat to greens and cheese. They have an incredible selection of awesome beer, and home-made apple juice which is made at their farm on the same day its served.

For anyone who appreciates excellent quality produce, amazing food & drinks, and in the most picturesque environment, I can’t recommend this place enough! Love!

Make sure you make a reservation at least a week in advance, though. If the phone keeps ringing or if no one’s answering—keep trying. It’s simply too popular to get through…
