New week guys! Week 9 of 2018. In case your first 8 sucked, there are 44 more to do something good about it.
So far, this year has been a lot about looking forward, being optimistic, believing in my own capabilities, and embracing opportunities that come my way. And, so far so good, I’d say…
I’m leaving for a trip to Germany tonight! I have been invited by Monkey 47, to visit their distillery in Black Forest, Germany for the week. The tour is a four day experience, where I will be getting to learn about the brand, the process behind making the gin, and be a part of a bunch of fun experiences which they have curated for the group that’s coming for this. I have been so crazy busy in the last couple of weeks, I’ve barely had a chance to think or research anything about where I’m going, or what the trip entails. Now that its less than 12 hours until departure, I couldn’t be more excited!
The area I am going to is called Black Forest. It’s basically a forest area in south of Germany, bordering France, known for its spas, cuckoo clocks, Gothic architecture, vineyards, and the Brother Grimm’s fairytales. From Hansel and Grethel to Cinderella, their work was some of my favourite tales while growing up. It’s said that the brothers were inspired by the dark, thick forests and its lack of sunlight.
Oh man – cannot contain my excitement. I’ve already emptied out my camera memory card and charged up the battery to full – I’ll obviously be blogging every day about my entire experience.
I also get a night in Stuttgart, and a night in Munich on the way back. This is where your recommendations will come super handy. I already got a great list from one of my Swedish readers, which I’ll be using as a reference for food when I’m there. Anyone who’s been to Stuttgart or Munich and has thoughts on where to eat, walk, drink or shop – please get in touch!
Getting back to some work now – the plan is to wrap up at the office by 7pm, go home to pack, see Saif for dinner, and be at the airport by 11pm… Wish me luck!
