Loving my new babouches from MumbaiStockholm

When I joined the company I work for as a product consultant two years ago, my very first client was an online jewellery brand. It being one of the first in India at the time, I found myself doing a lot of market research on similar brands abroad. One of the brands I ended up coming across, falling in love with, and often using to benchmark against, was MumbaiStockholm – a jewellery brand founded by a Swedish woman, Cecilia, who had spent some time living in Mumbai. Could it get any more spot on than that?

I reached out to Cecilia as soon as I found her very spot-on/perfectly-managed Instagram handle (which by the way, you must check out by clicking here). She offered to share her expert opinion, helped me out with my first questions as a brand new consultant in a brand new space, and since then we’ve kept in touch by liking each others photos and such…

Until the other day, when Cecilia reached out for my address in India, to send me a pair of beautifully designed babouches by MumbaiStockholm. The package literally arrived within one week, which is by the way literally record breaking in India. I’ve never before received anything so fast from back home, so hats off to DHL for that. Won’t be using anything else for international shipments from this day onwards.

The babouches came in this cute bag, and anyone who knows me knows how much I prioritise cute packaging. And by the way the packaging of their jewellery is actually what got me hooked on her products the first time I came across the MumbaiStockholm page.

“Hanna! I hope you love your shoes!”

I love the attention to detail, with the logo both inside the shoe…

…and on the sole underneath.

I couldn’t be more excited to be a proud owner of MumbaiStockholm’s babouches, and am so honoured that Cecilia thought of me all the way over here. My worry is always that Swedish brands will shy away from collaborating because I am based on the other side of the world. Cecilia + DHL just blew me and that thought far away. Easy peasy!

I kicked off my Veja sneakers under my desk right away and slipped these cuties on. I couldn’t think of a better shoe to wear to the office, to lunch, for a day out with friends, and while traveling. These guys will definitely get to stomp across Mumbai grounds with me this year – back where it all started for MumbaiStockholm, too!

Thank you MumbaiStockholm!

A belated happy Tuesday

Tuesday kicked off with a bang and I spent the morning answering emails in my new spot by the window. My apartment gets quite dark even in the middle of the day, being on the third floor and up in the trees, so this is definitely the lightest & brightest spot in the house.

Not sure it gets much brighter than this!

I was wearing denim from Bhane, with a black tank & a nude cape from Deme. Bag from Henri Bendel.

I finished off two morning-interviews with people for one of our clients, then made time for a lunch stop in between meetings. I love days when I’m not just working from one spot. My productivity increases when I’m on my feet and in constantly changing surroundings. Ever since I was born I’ve felt more at peace in buzzing environments — my mom used to go out for walks in loud and crowded places whenever I refused to sleep (read: often).

I had a hard workout in the morning, so I treated myself to baked sweet potato fries with vegan cashew cheese…

Steak cobb salad was the perfect mid-day energiser. My favourite lunch bowl at Bastian is the Mexican bowl though. I’m drooling just writing about it…

After lunch I stayed on for a bit, to get some emails sent out before heading back to the office. I always crave a strong Americano after lunch–I’m trying to figure out if its an actual crave or if its more of a habit at this point.

Kel and Andrea were taking photos of their new menu items. The fusion inspired french toast looked banging. Although, I’ve never had a french toast before. I’m more of an ice cream kind of gal.

Boo came out for a shot of french toast as well though. Then, out came the apple-pie. That’s when I decided to depart. Fight or flight, right? In this case, fight would have meant stay to devour. I chose flight and headed back to work instead. Good girl…

After work it was time for the first sangeet practice of the year – Maia and Aditya are getting married next week (!) and both Saif and I are dancing for it. Not together though – Saif is dancing as a part of Aditya’s friends circle, and I’m a part of Maia’s team.

At Indian weddings, the sangeet is the wedding function where friends and family of the bride and groom get together to practice dances to perform for the couple prior to their wedding day. It sort of sets the mood for the upcoming wedding when everyone gets together for a couple of days to eat, drink and dance together to a mix of Western and Bollywood music (although, mostly Bollywood).

Coco was watching from her bed. Amused or totally over it? I couldn’t tell.

There’s something special about being a foreigner in a Sangeet dance — the amount of comments I’ve received from people saying I’m looking ‘cute’ while dancing is…overwhelming. I’m not sure ‘cute’ is the look one would aim to go for when dancing. But hey, better than ‘hilarious’, right? The next practice is on Saturday along with Saif and the rest of the dances all together – can’t wait!

Good morning guys!

I slept like a baby last night, and at 8am I got up and tried on all my new Bhane wear that just arrived in the mail yesterday. Remember I mentioned that Bhane had sent me a whole bunch of amazing clothes over Diwali? Well, yesterday another box of goodies showed up!

What’s featured in this post isn’t close to half of all the stuff I’ve received – making this the first of several Bhane posts to come.

Yesterday, I wore the flared Bhane denims with a long white shirt from Acne Studios. Today, I’m wearing a black blouse and the wide leg denims with side-slits on both legs–all Bhane.

I can’t wait for Bhane to open up their store in Mumbai! Fingers crossed they’re here before the end of the year – I want to take my sister shopping when she visits in December… All of you can browse and shop all their amazing stuff here–the prices are bomb and the quality is above and beyond any Zara, Topshop or H&M. Seriously impressed.

Sizing tip from me to you: I’m wearing an XS in the tops, which fits perfectly–my chest is small, though. If my boobs were any bigger, I’d go for an S instead. I’m usually a 27 in jeans–I’m a 28 with Bhane.

Thank you so, so much for all the Bhane love! More to come! Love!
